Gbt Polarization Observations of 100 Pulsars at 774 Mhz
We report on polarimetric observations of 100 pulsars centered on 774 MHz, made using the Green Bank Telescope (GBT), presenting their polarization profiles and polarized flux densities and comparing them with previous observations when possible. For 67 pulsars, these are the first such measurements made. Polarization profiles of 8 millisecond pulsars in our sample show wide profiles and flat p...
متن کاملLinear Polarization Properties of Pulsars at 35 & 327 MHz
Faraday Rotation of the plane of polarization of broad-band signals, during propagation through the intervening medium, manifests as quasi-sinusoidal spectral modulations when observed with a telescope sensitive to a single linear polarization. Such a modulation can be exploited to study linear polarization characteristics of pulsars (Suleimanova, Volodin, & Shitov, 1988; Smirnova & Boriakoff 1...
متن کاملLong-term Scintillation Observations of Five Pulsars at 1540 MHz
From 2001 January to 2002 June, we monitored PSRs B0329+54, B0823+26, B1929+10, B2020+28 and B2021+51 using the Nanshan 25-m radio telescope of Urumqi Observatory to study their diffractive interstellar scintillation (DISS). The average interval between observations was about 9 days and the observation duration ranged between 2 and 6 hours depending on the pulsar. Wide variations in the DISS pa...
متن کاملSpectra of Southern Pulsars
We compare the spectral properties of the millisecond and slow pulsars detected in the Parkes 70 cm survey. The mean spectral index for the millisecond pulsars (MSPs) is –1.9±0.1 whereas the mean spectral index for the slow pulsars is a surprisingly steep –1.72±0.04. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov test indicates that there is only a 72% probability that the two distributions differ. As a class, MSPs are ...
متن کاملGlitches in Southern Pulsars
Timing observations of 40 mostly young pulsars using the ATNF Parkes radio telescope between 1990 January and 1998 December are reported. In total, 20 previously unreported glitches and ten other glitches were detected in 11 pulsars. These included 12 glitches in PSR J1341−6220, corresponding to a glitch rate of 1.5 glitches per year. We also detected the largest known glitch, in PSR J1614−5047...
